Microchip
Microchip emitted radiation constantly, potentially can cause cancer.
Flea & Tick
Most products on the market to kill flea & tick cause cancer.
Because Maltese is such a small dog, running indoor is enough exercise. When going out, try to keep her/him off the grass,
so no bugs can jump on them. I personally use 3 drops of Eucalyptus oil on their back, and I find no flea, ticks on them.
Oil of Citronella and Limonene should not be used on them because of the causticity. (find them at www.thomasvetdrug.com).
Eye
Contact lens cleaner cleans the tear stain, it is anti-bacteria. It
won't hurt them if it gets in the eye accidentally. Then use corn starch (no talc powder, no baby powder) to dry up.
Any products made of antibiotic taking orally, is not something I will use.
I am currently trying the pro-biotic
'I-Stain' from www.thomasvetdrug.com
Ear
It is very important
to clean Maltese' ears, because they are 'dropped'. Make sure you wipe the insides of the ears in every 3-4 weeks,
because it gets greasy and can cause ear mite. The hair coming out of the ear canal need to be pluck out, you will need to
use ear powder to help you grip the hair, and make sure you pull a little bit at a time. I find these products from www.dog.com.
Nose
A daily sunny frolic outdoors keeps Maltese nose a healthy, shiny
black. Lack of sunlight will cause the Maltese nose to pale.
Teeth
Can't
us Greenie until 6 month of age. Greenie is very effective to keep the teeth clean, but some dogs have indigestive issue with
it. So I only give them once or twice a week, each time I use a half of the size 'Teenie".
